68k Micro Computer Executive MCX at DESY

By MCX we present a cheap and reliable Microcomputer solution in hard and software, based on the Motorola Chip MC68EN302. MCX is a small operating system for 68k-like CPUs. With the System we support the standard IP-Protocols like ARP, UDP/IP and TCP/IP. MCX is running on the VME bus: as a Microcontroller in stand-alone mode or as an intelligent front/end processor by connecting the Micro through a terminal line and/or ethernet with a host computer. The host computer is a Linux PC, with the entire GNU-Toolkit, allowing to cross-build the most popular programming languages for the MCX like C, Fortran 77 and Macro- Assembler. Thus this system is well suited for nearly all data acquisition demands coming from small experimental setups or dedicated control purposes. The MCX-System is already in use in several physics experiments and will be used in the next future on board of the International Space Station (ISS) for a protein crystallisation experiment.

(The earlier version of MCX with an ATARI Mega ST as host and the Philips Chip SCC68070 is still available and supported.)

Presently the following cards are available: Of course all other VMEbus cards on the market can be used, as long as these cards are using 16bit access.
